200 Years of Bicycles

Wednesday, March 27th, 2013

I thought you bike enthusiasts would like to know about this
wonderful exhibit in an historic museum, large enough to
loose yourself and family for a whole day! The Museum of Science and Inddustry
was my childhood playground. I know every inch of it, butI haven’t seen this
exhibit yet. I am sure there will be a book on bikes in the MSI shop, too.

The exhibit runs for a few years … enjoy!

We Should Be Ashamed Of Ourselves

Rant Warning: needs to be said
It has come to my attention more and more and way too much that people refuse to do business with people who do not belong to their political party or who do not hold the same beliefs as one self.
This is outrageous in a democratic nation where diversity is King and charity towards others is Queen. Yes, it is a right that we can do business with whomever we choose and we can pray or not pray with whomever we want. But to punish someone whose goods and services might be used just because on their own time, in their own hearts, they hold ideas with a different angle to yours. I am ashamed to be an American amongst people who use their power like that and how we must appear as such hypocrites to people who are oppressed by their governments, people who we have fought for their freedom, yet we do not give our own neighbors and friends that freedom! OMG, People are forced to decline from choosing a political side so that they may continue in their business, to support themselves and their family without fear, without having to burden our welfare system. What kind of awful oppression is that??? Please stop. Be a real American and not an old world system oppressor. No one is going to join your party when they find out what you are doing to this country and to our status in the world. No one.

Don’t Get Around Much Anymore

Thursday, March 21st, 2013

With the event of winter and a visit to the emergency room in December, I have not been out. I have had time to think about what I like and what I don’t like about going out. And I have also put more focus on more gourmet eating in our home with the wonderful view. No restaurant I have been to has as good of a view as we have and because I don’t just sit around and stare at it all day, it’s still a very fresh experience. It is always changing and except for the very gray days and most nights, it is a wonderful thing to have in our lives.
I do miss the manicured beauty of Northfield. So many people show their gardening skills for all to see and it really makes a big difference when strolling or biking around town. It is the best town I have ever seen for the garden scenery displayed. Good job, Northfielders!

I miss my old garden and looking forward this time of year to my blooming white lilies, peonies, roses, bridal veil, oak hydrangeas, Japanese Pagoda trees, Smoke Grace Bush, sugar maple, and the lovely arbor vitae that surround the house. I miss the wildflowers and pond very much. Northfield is such a pretty town and St. Olaf’s is a place I miss very much, too, with it’s museum, food venues and lovely grounds, wind chime and buildings and gingko trees.
I miss the stores and restaurants where people seemed happy to see us. Maybe the food wasn’t so great, but the smiles were. Maybe the prices were too high, but you can’t buy a welcoming greeting. We made a few friends there, and those we still have. Thank goodness for them.
One of my blog outlets may be closing down, so be sure you hook up to me directly for the few posts I may have left in me. I will be going out again, this spring, if it ever warms up to 40. I’ll try then. So, take care, thanks for reading my blog, and enjoy the season with a smile.

Arm Yourself

That’s right. It is time to arm yourself with knowledge of the U. S. Constitution. Amazon is offering a free version of it for your kindle product here:

You know why, now know what it says and what that means for you, a citizen of the United States of America.
